Design Your Future

I just had a fabulous workout.

Why was it so great?

Because now I feel like I could take on the world.

This is the Number 1 reason I make moving my body a priority.

It feels so good.

This good feeling lasts way longer than the initial endorphin rush.

It feels good to:

  • Move with ease.
  • Be strong and slim.
  • Have more than enough energy to face my day.
  • Have confidence in my ability to physically do everything I want.
  • Have confidence in what I am capable of.
  • Love my quality of life.

Not your typical reasons to exercise, eh?

Beyond my personal experience that I feel physically and emotionally better and have increased energy when I regularly move my body, the research into the health benefits of consistent exercise are staggering. Truly, this is the magic bullet everyone is looking for.

For instance, consistent exercise can:

  1. Double survival rates of breast cancer patients, and can significantly reduce the chance of developing breast cancer in the first place.
  2. Strengthen the body’s immune system.
  3. Help relieve the symptoms of depression and anxiety.
  4. Boost blood flow to the brain, which increases the energy of brain waves that are responsible for quick thinking, focus, creativity, and problem solving.
  5. Prevent and treat osteoporosis.
  6. Help manage diabetes.
  7. Reduce the risk of addiction and relapse.
  8. Slow premature aging of the skin.
  9. Promote healthier digestion.
  10. Reduce aches and pains.
  11. Contribute to optimism and a positive mindset.

Study after study shows that even moderate exercise plays an important role in promoting sound physical and mental health and emotional well-being.

If the benefits of exercise could be put in a pill, everyone would be taking it.

The great news?

You do NOT have to go run a marathon or even workout for an hour. Even walking around the block has benefits.

The key is to start where you are.

When I began that last weight-loss journey several years ago, I started with the goal of doing just 10 minutes of any kind of physical movement.

Seriously, I counted everything! Walking the dogs, breaking a sweat vacuuming, parking at the far end of the lot and walking—ALL went to helping me meet my goal.

You can do this, too. Set a small goal that feels like progress. Then count and celebrate each tiny sign of success and build up the energetic momentum towards achieving your bigger wellness goals.

For me, it wasn’t until I was consistently meeting my physical goals that I started even thinking about the slow and steady changes I could make with my eating.

Yes, it took me a year to lose 34 pounds and get back into great shape.

So what?

At the end of that year I was a lot happier having slowly and steadily made those small decisions towards a healthier lifestyle than to try to do too much at once and give up, only to be faced with the same goal and results a year later.

And now several years later, I can tell you taking it slow and steady was totally worth it!

It is that slow and steady, inside out approach that leads to sustainable results.

No matter what your wellness goal is, moving your body will be one of the magic bullets that helps you achieve your goals.

What small step can you make today that feels like progress? Do that again tomorrow. Watch how this builds your momentum for creating the body you want.

Together we can do it!
